Fast Rhymes, the all-in-one songwriting app for iOS and Android, has been helping songwriters turn ideas into lyrics for over five years. What started as a lightweight rhyming tool is now a fully fledged songwriting studio — with an AI Ghostwriter, syllable counter, beat library, and recording features. Used by thousands of creatives worldwide.
This growth created a gap between how the app looked and what it had become. While the core experience evolved dramatically, the visual identity, user onboarding, and interface patterns still reflected its earlier, simpler version. It was time for a change.
A rebrand isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s a strategic move. The decision was driven by three main factors:
Product evolution: The Fast Rhymes of 2025 is vastly more capable than the Fast Rhymes of 2020. The old design didn’t reflect the depth of tools now available.
User expectations: Songwriters expect tools to not only function well, but also to inspire creativity through an intuitive and visually appealing experience.
Market positioning: Quality is a competitive differentiator. We wanted a modern, distinctive identity that stands out.
When we kicked off the rebrand, the goal was to balance creativity and clarity. A songwriting tool needs to feel inspiring without being visually overwhelming. We worked closely with designer Anders Sandøy Wiik, who brought a strong product-driven perspective to ensure the design supported the core workflows.
We also partnered with The Screenshot First Company to improve our store listing conversions, ensuring that the new look not only delights users in the app but also attracts more songwriters from the very first impression.
Key objectives included:
Improved onboarding to help new users discover features faster.
A calmer visual palette that reduces eye strain during long writing sessions.
A unified design system that scales with future features.
Consistent iconography and branding across mobile, marketing, and social platforms.
Streamlined interface: Reduced clutter and clearer navigation.
Updated logo and icons: A more modern look aligned with the brand personality.
Enhanced lyric editor: Better text handling and layout for complex writing.
We’ve already seen encouraging signs. Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Users describe the new design as “clean,” “inspiring,” and “easier to use.”
The rebrand is a foundation for what’s next. With a stronger design system in place, we can now ship new songwriting features faster and with more visual consistency.
